FIFTH SUNDAY after the EPIPHANY
NEW HOPE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH 2000 Catalpa Drive, Dayton, Ohio 45406
MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of New Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church is to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We commit to:
-- grow in faith and support each other in Christian living;
-- recognize and celebrate our cultural and ethnic diversity as gifts of God;
-- participate in and provide ministry throughout the community. |
FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY February 6, 2011 God becomes known in the world as his people broaden their faith into practical righteousness. When we do good, we are seasoning for society, we offer light, we demonstrate God’s presence in his universe. That presence defines the wisdom of a world that prefers greatness to servant-hood. The will and ways of God are marvelous beyond comprehension. We find great cause to rejoice in them. ORDER OF SERVICE Page numbers refer to pages in the front of This Far By Faith.

ANNOUNCEMENTS BIBLE STUDY: The 7:00 pm study in Proverbs will be held this Wednesday. This study in God’s wisdom is enlightening, challenging & sometimes, hilarious. Please join us! DEVOTIONALS: New Word in Season and Christ in our Home Devotionals for Jan. – March, 2011 are available on the Telephone Table in the Fellowship Hall. Share with those who are unable to attend regular worship services. The Fellowship Development Team presents new ideas for activities to the Congregation Council to promote positive fellowship among our members. This team revisited the idea of a monthly Fellowship Hour, preferably after Sunday service. While we’ve done this before, they proposed a slight twist - Each ministry team will select a month and plan an activity. The ministry can explain their purpose and goals at their activity and ask for suggestions or just general feedback. The activity can be strictly a fellowship activity, a free-will offering activity, or a money-generating activity. In any case, it should be a fun, lively and enjoyable fellowship activity that fosters interaction and positive relationships. This is a great opportunity to invite old friends, new friends and family members to fellowship with us. A calendar for each team to reserve their month and date is in the Fellowship Hall. QUESTIONS OF FAITH: Lenten Soup Supper Discussions. We will again join Trinity Lutheran for the Lenten Soup Supper Discussions. “Questions of Faith” is the theme this year. Pastors Keeley and Jacobs would like for people of the congregations to write down any questions concerning their faith or the teachings of the church. We will discuss them during the midweek Lenten Services. A sign up sheet for your questions has been provided in the Fellowship Hall for this purpose. We hope that you will come and grown in your faith as we meet together.
