TRANSFIGURATION of OUR LORD

NINTH SUNDAY after the EPIPHANY

March 6, 2011

An upward gaze is likely to wake up parties to life’s greatest experiences.  Mountaintops have been the setting for giving the law of God, revealing the glory of God and illuminating the divine son-ship of Jesus.  The word of God is as revealing as are the mountaintops.  The word illuminates the lives into which it has access and provides sharp focus for the message of God.

Please remember all of our sick and shut-ins with your prayers, cards, calls and occasional visits.  Illness and failing health can be such an isolating experience; one that each of us will encounter at some time.  Our church family members need to know they remain in our thoughts and prayers, especially during difficult times.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE is Wednesday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m.  This is a solemn service that begins the Lenten Season allowing each of us to reflect on its meaning.  This is a holy season to those looking to Christ for the life he died to give us.  His sacrifice must not be taken lightly.  Please join us.

BIBLE STUDY: The 7:00 pm study will be suspended until after the Lenten Season and Easter.  Please note: If you have any interest in attending Bible Study, your input as to whether we should change the meeting time to an afternoon time, i.e. 12:30, 1:00, etc.  is absolutely valuable.  Please give any pertinent input to Pastor

QUESTIONS OF FAITH: Lenten Soup Supper Discussions.  We will join Trinity Lutheran for the Lenten Soup Supper Discussions.  “Questions of Faith” is the theme.  Pastors Keeley and Jacobs would like for people of the congregations to write down any questions concerning their faith or the teachings of the church.  We will discuss them during the midweek Lenten Services.  A sign up sheet for your questions is in the Fellowship Hall.  Please come and grown in your faith.

TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY: There is a definite need for transportation to church for some of our older members.  This ministry is seriously being considered, but we need to have in place a pool of drivers who can alternate the responsibility for driving.  Prayerfully consider if this is a ministry that you would be able to work with.  Contact Pastor for more information.

FOOD PANTRY is in desperate need of plastic bags for dispensing food.  Please, bring all you have; and check with your family, friends and neighbors!  This is a simple way to help many others.

LENTEN DEVOTIONALS from Lutheran Indian Ministries are available in the Fellowship Hall on the Telephone Table.  These devotionals are thought-provoking as well as informative.  They can be a valuable tool in your Christian journey.  Try them.  Then, share with everyone exploring or observing the special Lenten season.

FELLOWSHIP HOUR:  The Fellowship Development Team has implemented a new plan for Fellowship Hour.  Each ministry team will select a month and plan an activity.  The activity can be 1) strictly fellowship activity, 2) a free-will offering activity, or 3) a money-generating activity, and may include providing information about the ministry’s purpose and goals.  All activities should foster interaction and positive relationships.  Invite old and new friends, and family members. Schedule your team’s activity on the calendar in the Fellowship Hall.
