PASTOR'S 2009 ANNUAL REPORT

PASTOR’S REPORT

TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 2011

Last Wednesday the church entered the season of Lent. Our Wednesday’s Lenten Soup Supper begins tomorrow. This time in our liturgical year is designed to recount the events that led to the death of Jesus as we await the glorious announcement of his resurrection. The good news of Easter is the reason and the strength that fortifies the faith of all true believers. It is upon the foundation of faith that the church is commissioned to carry out its mission and message to the world. Therein lies the importance of the Christian church today. As the world continues to change around us we must be resolved and convicted in the reality of God’s Word and the importance of God’s church in the world. The Lenten message is that adversity will be overcome and as a church on the Easter side of human existence we are called to proclaim that message even in the midst of our own struggles.

Today, more than any other time, the church and the work it was called to accomplish are of valuable importance. We, the leaders of the church have called to direct its mission to make the greatest possible impact to the world. The cause we serve is to make a difference in the world that its meaning will be truly understood and felt by those seeking spiritual guidance. The cause we serve is to lead others to Christ that they too may know the glory of Easter and the value of a Christ centered life. The cause we serve is none other than the cause of God.

As leaders in the church the responsibility of making that message heard amid the fluctuations of political and social change is our fundamental task. As leaders it is our responsibility to provide an atmosphere where spiritual growth and learning can take place among fellowship that nurtures and supports one another. It is essential that we always remember that we are Christians on the Easter side of life that have been called to convey the Easter message to others. Jesus’ work is done through the church.
